Two months of fun and games more boisterous than ever at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.
Introduced to the Charlotte area in 1994, the Carolina Renaissance Festival contained just 6 acres of attractions. Now, as the Festival approaches its 20th year of cheers, the storybook village is 22 acres large and nestled within 325 acres of pristine autumn woodlands.
The Festival has become one of the largest renaissance events in the country and one of the largest attractions in the Carolinas. Nearly 190,000 attendees are expected to time travel to the village during its 8 weekend season, held Saturdays and Sundays, from October 5th – November 24th. The Festival is located just north of Charlotte at the Huntersville/Concord border near the intersection of 73 and Poplar Tent Road; a near equal short distance from both I-77 and I-85.
The Festival’s artisan marketplace is reminiscent of 16th century architecture and design and features over 100 merchants, crafters, and artists that create, demonstrate, and sell quality handmade wares. Eleven outdoor stages burst to life with non-stop theater, comedy, music, dance, magic, circus entertainments, and live falconry demonstrations. Hundreds of costumed villagers fill the lanes with additional entertainment. You can choose to play or sit back and enjoy the shows. Enjoy an array of country fair games, people-powered rides, and feasting fit for royalty. The Festival’s signature attraction features knights on horseback jousting three times daily inside the Queen’s tournament arena.
In addition to the popular Festival antics, 20th anniversary celebrations include special guest performances by 4 popular variety acts visiting from around the globe and performing on stage for a limited time.
Photos and guest performance schedule is online at RenFestInfo.com. Their Majesties’ special guests are:
