With the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire’s audition process in full swing, a group of new Entertainment Staff members have begun the task of casting, writing and planning the upcoming Faire season. Three talented individuals have joined the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire Entertainment Staff and each provides an area of expertise necessary to bring the fantasy of the Faire to life during its season from August through October.
Justus White is bursting with excitement in his new position of Senior Director for the 34th season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Justus began his personal love affair with the PA Renaissance Faire in 2005 as a member of the Bacchanalian cast. Since then, while continuing his acting, directing and singing career outside of the Faire, Justus has always gravitated back to the Faire to perform in the cast, direct plot shows, tend bar, work in merchant shops or sing with last year’s popular independent act, Righteous Blackguards.
Justus’ enthusiastic and inspiration-based directing style began at Queens College where he studied under Raymond Gasper, Susan Einhorn and Charles Repole. Justus also studied acting and stage combat at Nassau Community College, and HB Studio in NYC.
Maren Montalbano Brehm joins the Faire as Music Director. Brehm is a graduate of Tufts University and New England Conservatory. She has performed on a wide variety of stages, from theme parks (Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire) to concert halls (Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia’s Academy of Music), and has an extensive knowledge of vocal repertoire, from Medieval to contemporary music. She sang in the historic world premiere of John Adams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning work, On the Transmigration of Souls, which was later released into a Grammy Award-winning CD. She performs regularly throughout the year in the New York and Philadelphia areas with Opera Philadelphia, Choral Arts of Philadelphia, and The Crossing.
Ed Rebert, Sound Department Manager, looks forward to building the Faire’s first in-house Sound Department. Rebert has been in the live sound reinforcement industry for more than 24 years with experience that includes theater production, concert sound, as well as vast touring experience. With specialization in sound system design and implementation, the audio quality for all of the events at Mount Hope will be better than ever.
The Entertainment Staff is also preparing for an exciting change to the Faire day’s scenario. The cheers of “God Save The Queen” will soon be replaced with a new form of deference. A formal announcement will be made at a later date regarding this season’s entertainment plans.
The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire has earned high accolades as One of the Top Five Best Renaissance Festivals in the United States by TheFamilyTravelFiles.com, named One of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association and earned a 2013 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.
The Faire is set amidst the splendor of the formal gardens of Mount Hope Estate & Winery, Route 72, ½ mile south of PA Turnpike Exit 266, 15 miles north of Lancaster and 14 miles east of Hershey.
