Scarborough Renaissance Festival® goes Celtic this weekend, Saturday April 12th and Sunday April 13th! “Celtic Weekend” will feature Celtic themed activities, music, Irish dancing and more throughout the weekend. Scarborough’s ‘Celtic Troupe’ (winner of the 2013 Renaissance Festival Award for Best Group Performance) will also host several special events like Tug of War, storytelling and a Kids’ Highland Games competition.
In addition, the Highland Games Competition will take place throughout the weekend with both men’s and women’s divisions competing in the Stone Put, Hammer Throw and the incredible feats of the Caber Toss (a pole the size of a phone pole).
“Ireland and Scotland are very intertwined with England throughout history, so it is only natural that we pay special tribute to these vibrant cultures at Scarborough Renaissance Festival®.” Says Coy Sevier, General Manager of Scarborough Renaissance Festival®. “This weekend will be filled with Celtic song, music, dance and tons of fun activities for kids and adults alike and we hope that everyone will join us for this Celtic celebration”.
Guest performers showcased at Scarborough Renaissance Festival® this weekend are the ‘Fire Whip Show’ and ‘Hey Nunnie Nunnie’ and guest artisans will be ‘Red Roo Art’ and ‘Gypsy Zoo’.
